Responsibilities
- assisting supervisors in all matters of life-safety and safety by keeping abreast of latest development in safety / fire safety
- updating of Fire Safety Management Plan and Policies as and when required
- supervising and administering fire staff and ensuring that fire staff response in emergencies is within set standard
- supervising and ensuring regular inspection and maintenance of fire safety equipment at off-campus facilities
- ensuring the serviceability of Fire Response Vehicles and coordinating with Maintenance and Transport Department as and when required in order to achieve minimum downtime
- ensuring that inspection and maintenance of portable firefighting equipment, suppression systems and fire alarm system are carried out timely
- conducting regular inventory check and supervising departmental store
- coordinating and conducting regular fire prevention and firefighting training of AKU staff as per training schedule
- coordinating and conducting regular fire and evacuation drills
- enhancing fire staff skills and knowledge through regular trainings and drills
- assisting / carrying out fire and safety related investigations
- participating in the safety and security risk assessment environmental rounds, construction safety round and audits.
Requirements
- atleast an Intermediate (Science preferred), Graduation in any discipline will be considered added advantage
- basic/ advance firefighting and safety course from any reputable organization. Possession of LTV / HTV license will be treated as additional qualification
- 3 to 5 years related experience in a similar capacity
- familiar with all types of portable, trolley-mounted and fixed fire extinguishers
- familiar with fire intimation, quenching/suppression systems
- basic knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Codes, Building safety codes and other Environment Health and Safety standards
- good verbal & written communication skills
- familiar with evacuation techniques and MS Office.
